MEYER WERFT delivered the LPG/ethylene tanker GASCHEM ADRIATIC to Harpain Reederei GmbH & Co. KG

6 May 2010

In March 2010, MEYER WERFT delivered the LPG/ethylene tanker GASCHEM ADRIATIC to Harpain Reederei GmbH & Co. KG, a joint venture of Harpain Shipping GmbH and Hansa Hamburg Shipping International GmbH & Co KG. The gas carrier's cargo handling system was designed and delivered by TGE Marine Gas Engineering.

The ship is the third unit in a series of four ships which are currently being built for the hanseatic shipping company until summer 2010. The gas trial was carried out in Riga in Latvia at the beginning of April, where the gas plant performance was successfully tested with propane cargo. The first ethylene cargo has recently been loaded in Terneuzen, The Netherlands. TGE’s engineers supervised the gas trial as well as the first loading of ethylene.

GASCHEM ADRIATIC will be operated by the Hamburg-based GASCHEM pool, and will sail under the flag of Liberia, with Monrovia being her port of registry.

With an overall lenght of 154.95 m, a breadth of 22.70 m and a cargo capacity of 17,000 cbm, the ship can carry ethylene (cooled down to -104°C) as well as propylene, propane, butane and vinyl chloride monomer.
