In April 2010, STX Offshore Shipbuilding Co. Ltd delivered it’s penultimate 9,000 cbm Ethylene/ LPG carrier “ GAS HONOUR” to Benelux Overseas Greece. TGE Marine Gas Engineering provided the key equipment for the gas plant and TGE's skilled experts supported STX throughout the entire building process up until the gas trial which was carried out within 3 days at Onsan port . Several trucks supplied Ethylene cargo to the vessel which was then loaded into the decktank. Conditioning of the two cylindrical cargo tanks was performed at the outer anchor by the vessel’s own Ethylene vaporizer and the gas trial was carried out according to schedule. On its maiden journey, the vessel called at Singapore port for bunkers before continuing it's journey to the Persian Gulf where it loaded it's first commercial cargo. “GAS HONOUR'S” sister vessel “GAS PRIDE” will complete the series of a total of 10 Ethylene carriers next month.
“ESHIPS DANA” the first of two 6,500cbm LPG carriers completed its gas trial in May 2010 at E1 Terminal in Yeosu, Korea. The vessel was built at STX Offshore Shipbuilding Co.Ltd in cooperation with TGE Marine Gas Engineering for UAE shipowner EShips. Prior to delivery of the vessel, a detailed gas trial programme had been specified by the contracting parties and executed by STX staff under close supervision of TGE Marine's experts. Once the vessel berthed at the Terminal, operating procedures of gassing up, cooling down, loading of cargo and cargo pump tests were conducted to the full satisfaction of owner, shipyard and classification society DNV.
