Naming ceremony of 3 new gas carriers at AVIC Dingheng Shipyard
4 May 2012
On April 19th the naming ceremony of 3 state of the art 6,500 m3 ethylene carriers took place at AVIC Dingheng Shipyard facilities situated at the Yangtze river near Jiangdu City. The ships were ordered by Anthony Veder Group in the Netherlands in 2010 and shall be delivered to the owner from the beginning of June onwards.
The godmothers of the vessels are the 3 sisters of Anthony Veder’s Managing Director, Jan Valkier. A number of distinguished guests attended the ceremony, including top local political leaders, supervisory board members of Anthony Veder Group, the Veder family, the chairman and directors of AVIC Dingheng as well as classification society representatives, bank representatives and last but not least the workers of the yard. The yard arranged an unforgettable celebration for the delegates.
A fourth ship of the same size, but upgraded for LNG transportation, is currently under construction and shall be ready for delivery at the beginning of next year.
Manfred Küver, CEO of TGE Marine, commented: “It was a pleasure and honour for me to be invited to the event. We do see a great potential for the yard to win further contracts for very sophisticated combined LNG/LEG gas carriers in the future.”
