TGE Marine celebrates its 25th anniversary in China and opens new office

18 Feb 14

This year marks a significant milestone for TGE Marine as it is our 25th anniversary in China. In 1989 TGE Marine signed its first contract for the design and supply of the cargo handling system for a 3,000 m3 LPG-carrier with Jiangnan Shipyard Group. This was the first time a gas carrier had been built in China. Two years later, further contracts followed with Jiangnan for the supply of two sophisticated ethylene-carriers of 4,200 m3 capacity which were delivered to the German Hartmann Group.

In 1994 TGE Marine opened its first office in Shanghai and China has since become one of TGE Marine’s core markets.
Since its entry the company has contracted, designed and supplied cargo handling systems and cargo tanks to more than 40 gas carriers and with its current order book of 18 gas carriers, TGE Marine is constantly strengthening its relationship with the major shipyards.

“Much has changed over the course of the past two and a half decades and we are proud to have benefitted from the country’s economic growth as China is a strong and important market for TGE Marine. We are very much looking forward to the opening of our new office scheduled for the end of March and hope to be able to continue our success story in China for another 25 years” commented TGE Marine’s CEO Manfred Küver.
