World’s first Pure Car/Truck Carrier with high pressure LNG fuel gas system put into operation
23 Sep 2016
In September TGE Marine has supervised the successful fuel gas trials of the first of two 3,800 PCTC delivered by Nantong Cosco Kawasaki Shipyard (NACKS) to United European Car Carriers (UECC).
The vessel is equipped with a TGE cylindrical type C LNG fuel tank of 760 m3 and a high pressure LNG fuel supply package designed and delivered by TGE. The MAN ME-GI main engine has been tested with LNG under several load cases and the TGE fuel gas system has fulfilled all operational requirements.
The ship has been delivered by NACKS on schedule and shall operate in the North and Baltic sea. The second ship shall be handed over to the owner at the end of the year. The LNG bunkering services shall be carried out by one of the world’s first LNG bunkering ships of 5,100 m3 capacity which is currently under construction in Korea at Hanjin HI facilities. The LNG bunkering vessel has been ordered by Gas4Sea, a joint venture between Engie, NYK and Mitsubishi and shall operate from the Zeebrugge LNG terminal.
TGE’s CEO Manfred Küver commented: ”We are really pleased to have been selected as partner by NACKS and UECC as engineering contractor for the LNG fuel supply system for the world’s PCTC running on LNG as fuel. As TGE Marine has also been selected by Hanjin HI and Gas4Sea as engineering contractor for the cargo tanks and the gas handling system onboard of the above mentioned LNG bunkering ship, we could contribute to cover the bunkering interfaces between the vessels. These ships may be considered as the starting point for a new era in LNG bunkering.”
