LNG bunker vessels making waves
20 Oct 2017
After the first successful bunker operation of Gas4Sea’s ‘ENGIE Zeebrugge’ to the UECC car carrier 'Auto Eco', already in April, now also the LNG bunker vessel ‘Coralius’ operating for Skangass, has performed its first bunker operations in the Baltic sea.
Vessels bunkered by the ‘Coralius’ are the Chemical tankers ‘Ternsund’, ‘Fure West’ and Navigator’s Ethylene carrier ‘Navigator Aurora’. The operation with the 'Navigator Aurora’ included the cool down and first operation of the vessels LNG bunker tank.
Both bunker vessels are equipped with TGE Marine LNG cargo handling systems, LNG tanks and fuel gas systems. For the bunker operation between the ‘ENGIE Zeebrugge’ and the UECC car carrier ‘Auto Eco’ as well as the ‘Coralius’ and the ‘Navigator Aurora’ TGE Marine was in the unique position as supplier of the LNG system on the bunker vessel as well as the LNG fuel gas system on the client vessel.
TGE Marine’s Engineers and Specialist were able to support the crews on both sides of the operation.
The current experiences with ship to ship bunkering with the new bunker vessels, which also include Shell’s ‘Cardissa’ form a milestone in the developments for LNG as a clean fuel for the future.
