Successful completion of three gas carrier projects in April 2008
17 Apr 2008
There were busy days for TGE engineers in early April since three ships were ready for gas trial in Europe and Asia:
End of March the “CORAL LEAF” was delivered from De Poli Shipyard in Italy. She is the last of a series of three 5,600 cbm Ethylene carriers and has been built for the ANTHONY VEDER pool. During the gas trial in Sines in Portugal beginning of April 2008 the gas handling system has been tested successfully under supervision of TGE engineers and has proven its excellent performance.
The gas trial for “OCEAN PRIZE” has been carried out at Ulsan in Korea. The 8,000 cbm Ethylene-Carrier has been built at Sekwang Heavy Industries in Ulsan, Korea for the Danish Shipowner Lauritzen-Kosan. The ship is no. 5 of total ten ships for which TGE has not only delivered the gas plant and cargo tanks but also provided the ship design. “Ocean Prize” is a sister vessel of the “ISABELLA KOSAN”, which has recently won the prestigious Lloyd’s List ‘Ship of the Year’ Award 2008. The award is a recognition of the pioneering engineering and design of the ship, and highlights the range of operational, environmental, and technical benefits.
Finally the first vessel of a series of three 9,000 cbm Ethylene carriers for Lauritzen-Kosan has been completed at STX Shipbuilding Co. in Busan/ Korea. The gas plant of “Stella Kosan” has been tested successfully with Ethylene cargo under supervision of TGE engineers at Ulsan, Korea. The ship is now trading with full cargo Ethylene from Japan to Venezuela and further on calling the port of Huston and finally scheduled for Stade, Germany.
