6 Jul 2010
Despite heavy fog, STX Offshore Shipbuilding, Benelux Overseas/Benetech together with TGE Marine Gas Engineering began the gas trial of “GAS PRIDE” at Onsan, Korea, at the end of June. The gas plant of the 9000cbm Ethylene carrier was commissiond without any problems and within four days including a waiting time of about 18 hours at the berth due to restricted visibility. The gas trial started with a proven Ethylene truck loading operation in Onsan followed by gassing up and cooling down of cargo tanks at the anchoring area around Busan. After completion of the gas trial, “GAS PRIDE” proceeded to the Persian Gulf for loading of its first commercial cargo in a combined trade with its sister vessel “GAS HONOUR”,´commissioned earlier this year in April.
The successful delivery of “GAS PRIDE” marks the final delivery of a series of ten 9000cbm Ethylene gas carriers, custom-built for several owners at STX Offshore Shipbuilding, Busan under supervision of TGE Marine Gas Engineering.
